Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion

Being a bit of a Nipponophile, I was bouncing around like a small child in anticipation of the Future Beauty exhibition at the Barbican Art Gallery.  Seeing the work of Issey Miyake, Rei Kawakubo, and Yohji Yamamoto in such a beautifully curated space was totally exhilarating. And turns out it’s the perfect recipe for curing an autumn flu and refreshing the imagination!

Future Beauty also introduced me, and my official photographer (who was sneaking around taking illicit photos for your delectation) to the new generation of Japanese designers, taking the helm of avant-garde fashion design.  Pretty darn exciting… check out labels Né-net, Somarta, and designer Akira Naka.

Go see from now until 6th February 2011…..

(sorry it's a little photo heavy)
